Outdoor Findings

This past week while outside, we noticed a couple unique things around the house. I came home from work and my Dad was getting ready for mow our lawn (he's such a nice dad!!) and he said "Hey come here, I want to show you what I found". He had been picking up branches in the yard and found this Moth. He had thought it had just come out of its cocoon, it was just sitting flapping its wing really slow. I quick ran inside to get my camera, its just too pretty not to take it's picture!!

The next day I showed these pictures at work, and one of my co-workers said that they had taken pictures of two other moths up at the Hospital that someone had found the day before. So we then decided to do a little more research and figured out that they are cecropia moths and that it is one of the largest moths found in North America. This one is a female, because the body is more rounded at the end.

The other thing that we found over the weekend is more funny than anything. My sister, Marisa came over to help me put together a desk. We were walking down our ramp to our garage to get started on it and Marisa noticed on our ramp something very unusual and something that we've never noticed!! She said "Hey, you have a face on your ramp! And it looks just like Princess Laya!!" I didn't believe her at first, but then after seeing it I immediately grabbed my camera!! And then yelled at Nick to come see it for himself! This is what we have on our ramp! I think it looks like a mix between Princess Laya, and a Chinese warrior don't you think? *laughs*
